Introduction

The Mixedwood plains ecozone is the smallest ecozone in Canada, but with that said, it includes the country's most productive industrial and commercial regions. Abundant waterways, fertile soil and a relatively light climate creates perfect agricultural opportunities as well. Withholding some of the countries largest cities (such as Toronto and Montreal), the Mixedwood plains is home to nearly half of Canada's population. The variety of wildlife and natural vegatation in the Mixedwood plains is wide itself. The emense amount of human activities in this ecozone, however, has lead to some serious negative impacts affecting everyone within and near the ecozone.
